First 100 Days

April 22nd marked my 100th day as a mom...here is what I have learned thus far...(I expect to see some sort of review of my performance on Fox News :p)

1. Long hair must not be left down if you are planning on holding your child. He will end up with a fistful, and you will end up with a bald spot. This also goes for hoop earrings. ow.
2. Don't get too attached to cute baby outfits. They will get pooped on and stained. Most likely the first time they wear the outfit, and before anyone even gets to see it.
3. If you want to lose all of your baby weight, and quickly, take your infant out to dinner. They will cry incessantly the instant you pick up your fork.
4. Don't think you will have any time to get anything accomplished around your house. Your husband will be pleading with you to at least do a load of underwear and socks, you will be eating dinner out of tupperware containers because your good dishes will be in the sink, and you'll probably even forget where you keep the vacuum. But it's okay...playing with your baby is SO much more fun than housework, anyway.
5. I can't believe I'm saying this, but heels are not everyday shoes anymore. No, you know what? They're not even once a week shoes anymore! For the first time in years, I am putting function instead of fashion. And I have to be honest...it feels good.
6. Get a big memory card for your camera. You'll be taking pictures of EVERYTHING...first bath, first smile, first baseball game, second bath, first time in the bassinet, first time in the crib, first "little man" outfit, first time he finds his toes, third bath...okay, you get the idea...
7. There is nothing in the entire world that I wouldn't do for my son. Seeing him smile is worth more than anything, and Nick and I absolutely love watching him grow and develop every day!

Mom, there's sand in my diaper!!!

On Sunday, my mom and I went to lunch and decided to take an impromptu trip to the beach. We headed out to Boca Grande, and had a great time (even though I was in a jean skirt!) We bought a beach umbrella, found a few t-shirts to sit on in the abyss of Nick's car (it's even worse than his office!), and enjoyed a Sunday on the Gulf of Mexico. Brixon absolutely loves being outside, and even kept his T-Rex sunglasses on the whole time we were there! It was too cute!!!

As far as development goes, B has been doing lots of new things!! In the past couple of weeks, he started really acknowledging that he recognizes me! Every time I go to take him out of his crib, or when I come into his line of vision, he gets this huge grin on his face! Nothing in the world could ever make me feel the way that I do when he smiles at me!!! He has also discovered his hands, and sucks on them really loudly!!! He can reach out and grasp objects, and now he even sleeps in his crib! Alright, so I took it apart and reassembled it in our bedroom...but still!!! Just when I think that it couldn't get any better, it does! I can't wait to see what the next day will bring...

Happy Easter!

We had a great weekend! Saturday, we went to the Coconut Craze days at Laishley Park. I painted a coconut for Bin that we raced in the river. We lost :(. But the weather was great, and B had a good time! Yesterday, we started out by going to church, where Brixon decided to fill his diapers. twice. during the sermon. The kid is notorious for his timing!! We met the pastor who will be baptizing him on Mother's Day. We are so excited about that!! Then we headed up to Kevin and Steph's house in Bradenton where Brixon got to hang out with the family! Complete sensory overload! Both of us went to bed at 9:30 last night, when he usually doesn't fall asleep until midnight!

Brixon, meet the rabbit...

We decided to take Brixon to see the Easter Bunny yesterday. Let me tell you, that rabbit must have a sweet contract. He was on break every ten minutes! By the time we finally got Brixon on his lap, the poor kid had an empty belly and full pants! He wasn't his usual giggly self, but we managed to still get a cute shot. We're headed to Kevin and Steph's to celebrate this Easter Sunday, and Brixon will also be three (!) months old that day!!! I can't believe it!

The Baby and the Bulldog...

No, nothing exciting has happened in the past week...unless you count steam cleaning my grout and finding my closet floor under thirty loads of laundry. But I did take some cute photos.
