"Punkins and carshos, Mommy!"

That's Brixonese for pumpkins and scarecrows!! Brixon is really getting into Halloween this year! We brought him to a fall festival last week at his school/our church, and we had such a great time! Cookie decorating, games (he won the pumpkin walk, and was so proud of himself!), and a petting zoo! I think he wanted to take the chickens home! And he cracks me up when you ask him what he's going to dress up as for Halloween...'french fries!' We can't wait; I think he's really going to love trick-or-treating.

We're also gearing up for the weekend after Halloween....the "Here Come the Mummies" show Nick and Matt are putting on! It's going to be a great weekend. Our friends Joelle and Steve are coming down, and my Aunt Kim and cousins Rusty and Corbin (home from Afghanistan!!) will be here, too! I love having great events to look forward to!

What a Big Kid!

Big news at the Nemec house! Brixon used the potty for the first time!!! Who would have ever thought that would be the most exciting thing to happen over a weekend??? He got a Mickey Mouse sticker, and was so proud of himself! We'll be working on that new skill here over the next few months, I'm sure! Not so exciting is the fact that Brix has another ear infection! We just finished our course of antibiotics from the last DOUBLE ear infection that he had two weeks ago! Poor kid...at least now he can tell me when it hurts. This morning, he said "Mommy...boo boo ear." Sure enough; but he's a trooper. We have to go back in four weeks to see if he needs tubes. I hope that he doesn't, but I also don't want him to have to suffer from ear infections every few weeks, either! And what a crack-up this child is. Every morning, he wakes up well before the sun (much to my dismay), and we bring him into bed with us. We try and try (and try) to get him to go back to sleep, but nope. Instead, he'll lay there and say whatever comes to mind. This morning, he said 'Chicken Dinner,' 'Read Moon, Mommy (Goodnight Moon...our favorite!), 'Hello Michael (he calls our neighbor 'Michael'. He goes by 'Mike,' and we've never called him anything other than that, so I'm not sure where that came from!) and 'clean feet.' Honestly, I don't know how he puts these thoughts together, but it makes getting up at 5:45am a little less painful :)

In other big news, HALLOWEEN IS COMING! As you are aware, if you know anything about me other than my first name, we live for this holiday! Months of planning, weeks of decorating, lots of hot glue gun burns...We used to have a big bash every year before heading to downtown Punta Gorda, but for the last two, we've kept it somewhat low-key. This year, we're ready to be back in action. I would love to tell you what our costumes are going to be, but then you would just go steal it ;) Soooooo, you'll have to wait for photos. But I will tell you what Brixon is going to be when we go trick-or-treating the next night! We like to do group costumes, so this year, his friend Carter is going to be a hamburger, Brixon is the fries, and Wrigley is the drink...a HAPPY MEAL! hehe...Halloween isn't the only fun weekend we have coming up. This weekend, Charlotte High is having their ten-year reunion, which Nick is putting together (!). The weekend after Halloween, Nick and Matt are doing a concert, featuring 'Here Come the Mummies,' and we have lots of family and friends coming down!!! We also have lots of fall festivals and holiday events coming up...I love this time of year!!
