been busy! Lots of fun stuff, and some not-so-fun thrown in there. Around November of 2009, we discovered a very enlarged lymph node on the left side of Brixon's neck. We went to his pediatrician, who then sent us to an oncologist in Fort Myers. After some bloodwork, they did not feel it was anything serious. Over the past 14 months, we noticed that it seemed to fluctuate in size. It never got any larger, but it never went away entirely, either. So we went back down to the oncologist, who did more bloodwork and x-rays. The bloodwork did not show anything that might indicate disease, and the x-rays all came back negative. At our follow-up, he decided to draw more blood (which turned out to be an absolute fiasco, as they could not find the vein in his arm, and had to eventually draw from his hand. He was a trooper, though. I was so proud of him), and run tests on his immune system. Well, those results showed an immunodeficiency on two of the markers, so we now have to go up to All Children's in Tampa to see an immunologist. He is sick quite often, which I chalked up to day care, but it looks like we may finally have a viable explanation for the repeated illness and swollen lymph node. I will keep you posted...
Aside from some poking and prodding, Brixy has been keeping busy with growing up!! A few weeks ago, we were in the car, and he sang me the whole alphabet song...complete with "now I know my A,B,C's, next time won't you sing with me" (Although he has a tendency to skip E and F, and apparently 'Elmo' is a letter [L,M,N,O]). I recorded it on my phone, but I can't get it uploaded :( Nevertheless, it was one of those melt-your-mommy-heart moments! A few weeks ago, they had a fundraiser for St. Jude at his school. It was a Trike-a-Thon, but since he can't reach the pedals, he took his 'mokorcycle'. And this weekend, we headed up to Universal since Aunt Vicki and Uncle Dave were in Orlando. He rode his first rollercoaster, and even got to meet all of the Dr. Seuss characters from the walls of his nursery! Surprisingly enough, his favorite was the Grinch! And my favorite part of the day was when we all rode E.T. He got to ride his very own 'bike,' and his expression was priceless; his eyes were wide open, and he kept saying 'oooooooohh!' Enjoy the photos!
