It seems like every day Brixon is learning and doing something new. "Up" and "more" are the words of the week, and he has learned how to say "shhh...." I get 'shushed' a lot :) He loves to sort things, and is getting good at matching pairs. He loves going outside, so he'll go into my closet (which is a literal abyss of shoes), and manage to find a pair and bring them to me. We love to spend our free time outside, and at night, putting the Music Choice toddler channel on and throwing a dance party in the living room. And thank goodness Wrigley is so tolerant. Just see below for reference :)

It looks like sugar, so it must be, right Mom?!
We spent this past Friday night at Saturday with Nick's cousin, Stephanie, and her family out at Siesta Key Beach. Holy cow. A beach excursion with a little one is a whole lotta work! But Brixon loved it. If you haven't been to Siesta, the beach sand looks much like sugar. So Brixy decided to give it a go. Twice. Two giant mouthfuls of it. That made for some incredibly unpleasant diapers! He enjoyed swimming with his cousins, and loved to watch the dolphins playing right offshore! Needless to say, he took a very long nap after the day of sun and fun!

Proof that we can have a good time anywhere...
May 11th was my 28th birthday. A Tuesday. The day on which I was born, however not conducive to a massive bash. So instead, we got some family and friends together at the last minute and headed to Visani Comedy Club for a Murder Mystery Dinner Show! Although we were the youngest people in the audience by about 30 years (I live in Charlotte County, so I'm not 100% sure why this was surprising), we had such a great time. In fact, I don't think anyone there would have had as much fun without our table :) I am thankful to be surrounded by such a thoughful, fun group of people!
And after reading my last blog post, I realized I left out a lot of fun stuff that Brixon is doing these days! He loves being read to, and will bring you book after book. He points to everything on every page, and makes you say what it is. He absolutely adores Wrigley ("giggy"), and follows her EVERYWHERE! He lays on her, sits on her, scratches her belly...and she puts up with it! What a good girl. He loves music and dancing, and especially loves playing outside. In fact, he'll let you know when he wants to go out. He'll go get your shoes and bring them to you, then wait by the front door! He does the same thing when he's hungry. He goes over to the refrigerator, and makes you go through each and every item, shaking his head 'no' until he finds what he wants. Then he goes over to his high chair and waits for you to put him in it! We had our neighbor watch him one night, and he did the shoe thing, and she was cracking up! Then when she let Wrigley back inside, he grabbed her hand and brought her to the treat jar. He loves giving Wrigley her treats...he thinks it's so funny! Then after he did that, he walked her over to the sink and pointed, so she could help him wash his hands! haha!! I'm glad he's learning to be a compulsive hand-washer just like his mom :) Every day he keeps me on my toes, wondering just what he's going to do next. I just love that kid!

No better way to spend Mother's Day!
I'm a little behind again! In fact, I missed blogging about our whole trip to North Carolina! I'll get there...anyway, Brixon is developing the best little personality. He has all kinds of new words that he has added to his repertoire in the past month (Mimi, hot, baby, hi, bubbles, ball, egg, moon), and is so social! This is such a great stage. He is starting to really be able to communicate well, if not through simple words, through actions. If he wants to go outside, he'll bring you your shoes, then pull you to the front door! If he is hungry, he'll pull you to the refrigerator, make you open the door, then you have to pull out each and every item he points at until you get to what he wants (which, strangely enough, is usually peas or green beans!) Then he'll walk you over to his high chair! He loves Wrigley, and likes to lay down next to her and rest his head on her back. I can't believe how lucky I am to have such a great kid. He is so great, in fact, that he may be an only child! I'm pretty sure I won't be as lucky the second time around :)
I don't know if it's the rides, the characters, or the cotton candy, but I love Disney World! For Mother's Day this year, I managed to drag some family and friends along for a weekend in Orlando. My mom and dad, Brixon, Chantil, Carter and I drove up Friday afternoon, and spent some time swimming. Brixon had a great time playing with Carter and splashing around with Grandpa Ron! He absolutely loves the pool! After that, we headed over to Disney Marketplace, which is always so much fun. We had dinner outside on the patio at the Rainforest Cafe, then did some shopping. My dad was able to meet up with an old high school friend while we were there, so we left him to reminisce while we went back to the hotel and crashed early. Wait, did I say 'crashed early?' Well, that was the plan, but with two kids who didn't want to sleep in their Pack 'n Plays, Chantil and me in one bed, it didn't quite work out that way! But we were in Disney World, so we let them keep us up. All night :) On Saturday, Nick, Matt and Carrie came up and joined us after their wine tasting on Friday night, and Chantil's family came up to join her. We spent the day at Magic Kingdom, and couldn't have asked for a better day! Brixon loved the Country Bear Jamboree, It's a Small World, and all of the characters. The very first ride we brought him on, Haunted Mansion, the kid was asleep before we got halfway through it! That gave mom and dad some time to ride Space Mountain! He also loved the parade, and dancing with Grandpa Matt! He is so much fun to be with...he loves to dance, and he is so curious about new things. I love nothing more than to watch his face during a new experience!! After that, we went for a great dinner at the Columbia in Celebration. Sunday we went to lunch and did a little shopping in Winter Park, and then got home around 7. It was a short, but great weekend.
