It isn't often that I go places without the kids, but when I found out in late July that my cousin Corbin was coming home to visit from the Air Force (and his second deployment to the middle east), I decided to make a quick trip up to Michigan at the end of August to see him. No matter how short the visit is, it never disappoints. I have lived in Florida for ten years now, but Grand Rapids is my hometown. It is where I was born, where I made all of my childhood memories, and where all of my family and many of my friends still live. I very much look forward to the annual (sometimes semi-annual, if I'm lucky) trip back to see everyone. Every time I go, I learn more and more about my family and our history, and I truly value every moment that I have with my aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandpa. I am excited for the day that Brixon and Hudson will be able to appreciate the stories and memories that we will all be sharing with them.
