What a weekend!
Brixon was a busy little man this weekend! And so were mom and dad! Saturday we went to the Nemec's to watch the air show and had a great time! Aunt Kim, Uncle Art, AJ and Angie were in town, and Brixon's buddy Carter came to visit, too! We had so much fun. Then Saturday night, I finally relinquished some control and let Mimi and Grandpa watch Brixon while I went to 80's Night at Bin with Nick! Today is our one-year anniversary of opening Bin 82, so last night we held 80's night to celebrate. And yes, there are photos of my teased, fluorescent self below. Today we went to the Rays/Yankees game, and again, Brixon had a great time!

We miss you, Giz
Yesterday was a rough day for us. After much debate and failed treatment, we had to put Gizmo to sleep. He had bladder stones that we had operated on back in 2007, but they just reformed 3 months later. He then developed kidney stones. We tried special food and medication, but nothing worked. Even though he was always smiling, you could tell he was in pain. It was an incredibly difficult decision, but we knew it was one we had to make.
I bought Gizmo from a family in Ocala back in February of 2003. He was born on April 30, 2002, and had been mistreated for those ten months. It took him a long time to trust anyone, even me, but he was always very sweet and loyal. It's easy to say "well, he's just a dog," but he really was a part of our family. During Hurricane Charley, the scariest two hours of my life, Gizmo just sat calmly in my lap, knowing just how scared I was. We will really miss that little guy.

Chicks dig Snoopy band-aids
Brixon had his two-month appointment today, and you know what that means. Shots. Lots of shots. He had his moment of screaming, but handled it like a champ! He was all smiles as we left the office!
Great Aunt Kimmie came into town yesterday, and Brixon got to meet her for the first time! He was super crabby, as we got him up early to go to his friend Alyssa's 2nd birthday party in Tampa yesterday morning. She'll be in town all week, so hopefully he's in a better mood! Here are some photos from the past couple of days...

Two months old!
Why does time have to go so fast when I'm not working?!?! Yesterday, Brixon turned two months old already! Yes, we had a huge celebration, where I ate a half a pan of brownies by myself! Alright, so there was no celebration. But I really did eat a half a pan of brownies by myself. Anyway, B has developed quite the personality! Always laughing and smiling...well, he tries to laugh. It's more of a gasp right now, but super cute nonetheless. He also does this pouty lip when he gets upset. I haven't had the heart to take a picture of it yet, but I will. It's too precious. Here are some photos...

Family Day!!!
Woo hoo! I've been waiting for Family Day for a long time! Now that Downtown GetDown is over (and really successful!!!), we needed a day just for us. We went shopping, and got B lots of great stuff, including two complete sets of Fraggle Rock DVD's! I think he might like those when he's a little older. Or at least I know I will! And even though we were at the mall, Nick didn't complain! Not even ONCE! We then took Brixon to the Rays game where he had a great time! He loved the music and the sound effects! We just don't tell anyone there he's named after Wrigley Field :). Here are some pics of the game...

Our first cold...
Despite Purell-ing everyone within a 10-mile radius, Brixon has managed to get sick with his first cold. Nothing breaks a mom's heart like hearing that awful, barking cough! And he sure hates having his boogers sucked out! I brought him to the pediatrician yesterday, to make sure it was just a cold, and they told me "Casey, mother of the year, we're glad you brought him in. We sure love seeing this precious little man..." Okay, so it didn't really happen like that, but the nurse practitioner does adore him! He even got a kiss on the forehead from her! Despite the cold, he started smiling like crazy this weekend. There are some photos below...

In news unrelated to my little bear, Bin 82 was voted "Best Restaurant for Wine" by the readers of the Charlotte Sun! Even though we're not really a restaurant, we'll take the accolades! Now we're gearing up for our big Downtown Get Down event on Saturday. If you're here in Punta Gorda, come on down! We're shutting down Taylor Rd., and having music, food, drinks and fun! 3 to 11pm. Hope to see you there!
